The Edmonton Oilers are chasing the Stanley Cup again in 2025/26, and now they've placed two players on waivers with opening night drawing near. The 2024/25 campaign was another successful one for the Edmonton Oilers, but after falling short again in the Stanley Cup Finals, they've made some big time changes this off-season. Those changes come on the blue line and in their top-six, and with opening night just a few weeks away, their starting to solidify their roster as they look to chase down that elusive Cup victory.
Oilers waive two players as opening night approaches
Now, that solidifying of their roster led to two big moves on Saturday, as the team have opted to place both Josh Brown and Roby Jarventie on waivers, with the team hoping that both will pass through and head to the AHL's Bakersfield Condors.

Loading from Twitter ...

It was likely that neither were ever going to make the NHL roster to start the season, but the experience that both have been given to start the pre-season will hold them in good stead as they look to start the year in the AHL hot and continue pushing for a spot on the top roster. In Brown and Jarventie, the Oilers have waived two very talented players that simply haven't stepped up as of yet, but with the team willing to give players like this an opportunity, it's safe to say that there could be some shocks. Ultimately, the Oilers roster is all but set in stone heading into the new campaign, with plenty of new faces in new roles for this team, and with a Battle of Alberta looming on October 8th to start the new season, expect plenty more moves from the front office between now and then.
