Tonight the Edmonton Oilers have landed one of the biggest names still left on the free agent market. Throughout day one of NHL Free Agency the Edmonton Oilers lost several key pieces from last season's Stanley Cup Finals roster. They had also not made any big additions to replace players like Corey Perry and Connor Brown up front who departed. Tonight, that has changed, the Oilers have landed former Calgary Flame and Washington Capital Andrew Mangiapane acccording to multiple reports.
Edmonton Oilers Land Exciting Winger Andrew Mangiapane In Free Agency
After missing out on some other targets earlier today, GM Stan Bowman finally got his guy as the Oilers have inked Mangiapane to a 2-year deal worth just over 3.5 million each season.

Loading from Twitter ...

Loading from Twitter ...

This is a huge get for the Edmonton Oilers, Mangiapane is one of the best wingers in this year's free agent class and could be a perfect compliment in the middle-six. At 29-years-old Mangiapane is in the prime of his career and looking for a bounce back after a difficult year in Washington. Before arriving in Washington, Mangiapane was a crucial winger in the top-six for the Calgary Flames scoring over 30 goals and 50 points in his best season. If the Oilers can help Mangiapane find his offensive game again he could be an absolute steal on the contract he signed by the end of the season. This move is incredible considering the Edmonton Oilers are working with limited salary cap space and shows just how much players want to be in Edmonton to chase a Stanley Cup. According to Bob Stauffer, Mangiapane took a pay cut to come to Edmonton.

Loading from Twitter ...

Now, with Mangiapane added, it will be fun to see what else Bowman and the front office have up their sleeves.
