This evening, Oilers insider Allan Mitchell has connected the team to a pair of new goalies including future Hall of Famer Marc-Andre Fleury.

The Edmonton Oilers search for a goaltender continues as Stan Bowman explores the trade market for an upgrade over their current duo of Stuart Skinner and Calvin Pickard.
This evening, a report from Allan Mitchell of The Athletic has indicated the Oilers could look to add either Michael DiPietro or legendary goaltender Marc-Andre Fleury.

Edmonton Oilers Linked To A Pair Of Goalies Including Marc-Andre Fleury

First, when discussing the goaltending options Mitchell mentioned DiPietro who has been linked to the team in the past but is not an elite level goalie like the Oilers are looking for.
In goal, Mike DiPietro of the Boston Bruins is most often mentioned. He wouldn't be a clear upgrade on the Skinner-Pickard tandem, and he hasn't delivered a strong preseason so far.

If the Oilers want a true game changing goalie, Mitchell believes the Oilers best bet currently is to convince future Hall of Famer Marc-Andre Fleury to come out of retirement.
Finally, Marc-Andre Fleury is still on the radar for all Stanley Cup contenders, via Pierre LeBrun, and it would make a lot of sense for the Oilers.

Fleury recently signed with the Pittsburgh Penguins as he returns for a couple of preseason games before he is expected to officially hang up his skates.
At 40 years old now, Fleury is not the elite level goaltender he once was but has been an above average 1B goaltender for the Minnesota Wild in recent years.
He would be an upgrade over Calvin Pickard in the short-term if the Oilers and Stan Bowman could convince him to come out of retirement to chase another Stanley Cup.
One of the biggest advantages the Oilers have is the relationship between Bowman and Fleury as Bowman traded for Fleury during his tenure in Chicago.
While both of these options remain on the unlikely side it will be interesting to see if Bowman can work his magic to get the Oilers a massive upgrade.
