David Pagnotta gives an update on the Edmonton Oilers' pursuit of a 13 year veteran goalie

The Edmonton Oilers continue to struggle finding their way this season after a devastating loss to the Buffalo Sabres.

The loss for the Oilers once again came after an absolute let down from the defensive unit and starting goaltender Stuart Skinner.

The disappointing start from Skinner once again has lowered his season stats to a shockingly terrible 2.77 goals against average and a 0.891 save percentage in 14 games played this season.

Those numbers from Skinner are just simply not good enough and have caused trade rumors to pick up significantly with fans clamoring for a move to be made.

As a result, NHL insider David Pagnotta has connected the Oilers to veteran goalie and former Oiler Cam Talbot.

Recently during a segment on Inside Sports, David Pagnotta of The Fourth Period confirmed that the Edmonton Oilers are one of the teams considering trading for Cam Talbot.

Talbot, 38, is likely to be the best goaltender available on the trade market during the season.

While Talbot is not a sure fire starting goaltender he is capable of being a quality part of a split duo tandem in net for a Stanley Cup Playoff team.

He also would likely be incredibly cheap for Stan Bowman and the Oilers to acquire if the Red Wings end up as a selling team at the trade deadline.

If Skinner and backup goalie Calvin Pickard continue failing to play up to expectation Bowman will be forced to make a move just to shake things up and Cam Talbot will likely be one of the names involved in the process.
