Insider connects two-time Stanley Cup champion Steven Stamkos to the Vancouver Canucks
Tonight, a new report has connected the Vancouver Canucks to a potential trade to land multi-time Stanley Cup champion Steven Stamkos.
For months, the Vancouver Canucks have been in desperate search for help up front after Filip Chytil suffered another concussion.
The Canucks first turned to the Chicago Blackhawks and acquired former first-round pick Lukas Reichel.
However, Reichel has failed to live up to expectations recently being demoted to the fourth-line by head coach Adam Foote.
As a result, GM Patrik Allvin has reportedly continued his search for help in the top-six and according to insider Jeff Marek the Canucks are targeting Steven Stamkos.
Vancouver Canucks linked to Steven Stamkos as a potential trade deadline target
In a recent report, long time analyst and insider Jeff Marek has confirmed that the Vancouver Canucks and Montreal Canadiens have both kicked the tires on acquiring Steven Stamkos.
Stamkos, 35, has struggled mightily this season with the lowly Predators tallying just 5 points in 20 games.
Despite his struggles, many believe the Stamkos still has several productive years left in the right organization.
Even with Filip Chytil reportedly retiring soon Stamkos would be a massive addition to the Canucks lineup if he can find his offensive flair again.
If Patrik Allvin, Adam Foote, and the Canucks organization believe they can get Stamkos back on track he would be the perfect addition to provide much needed depth and veteran leadership.
He would also bring championship pedigree with his two career Stanley Cups.
It remains to be seen whether or not Stamkos will be traded this season but if the Predators do make him available look for the Canucks to be a finalist to land him.
