After former Oilers defenseman Chris Pronger called out the current Oilers and their lack of toughness, Darnell Nurse is firing right back at him. You can bet that the current Edmonton Oilers players were well aware of what former Oilers defenseman and NHL Hall of Famer Chris Pronger had to say about them. Pronger criticized the current Oilers for what he felt was a lack of toughness in failing to stand up for their goaltender Stuart Skinner after being inadvertently struck by the knee of Dallas Stars forward Mikko Rantanen. Pronger said shortly after the injury to Skinner that he felt there wasn't an adequate response by the Oilers players. Well, first and foremost, if the sole purpose is to protect your goalie and be like, 'Okay, you're not touching the goalie, running the goalie,' then you take the hardest, toughest penalty you possibly can on one of their best players, and then you go down the other end and you bump their goalie. And ultimately, are there going to be penalties? Yes, but in the long run, you're sending a message and setting the tone of this is not allowed. And if you continue to do it, then there will be repercussions. If you have to take a suspension, then you take one. I'm sorry, but you have to set the tone. And they should have done it a long time ago. Defenseman Darnell Nurse is firing right back at Pronger after Saturday night's game against the divisional foe Calgary Flames in which he was more than willing to dole out the physical punishment and follow it up with some verbal jabs at Pronger.

Loading from Twitter ...

Loading from Twitter ...

I know our group has zero toughness, so hopefully tonight, we showed we got a little bit.

Loading from Twitter ...

If you would like to hear Nurse's full comments on the situation and the heated game against the Flames his entire interview can be seen below.

Loading from Twitter ...

It will be interesting to see if Pronger responds and continues this feud between himself and his former team as the NHL season winds down.
