The Edmonton Oilers have been without Connor McDavid, Leon Draisaitl and Mattias Ekholm, but the latest updates on their conditions have been released. The Edmonton Oilers are anything but healthy, as they are missing 3 of their most important players. Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl have missed the last several games with undisclosed injuries, as is the case with defenseman Mattias Ekholm. Naturally, this raises major concerns among Oilers fans with the Stanley Cup Playoffs on deck and the fact that they've slid into 3rd place in the Pacific Division standings. But the good news is that Oilers coach Kris Knoblauch announced that all 3 players are expected to return before the year ends and the playoffs begin. We expect to get everybody (in) before the end of the season. It depends on when exactly, whether that's in a couple of games or the last two games of the season. Those guys are day to day to maybe a week away, and that's where the timeline is for them. Draisaitl leads the Oilers with 106 points (52G, 54A) and will win the Maurice Rocket Richard Trophy as the NHL's leading goal scorer. McDavid has 90 points (26G, 64A) in 63 games, while Ekholm has 33 points (9G, 24A) in 64 games while also averaging just over 22 minutes per night.

They were all on the ice and participants in practice on Wednesday as they prepared to face the St. Louis Blues tonight at Rogers Place; the Blues recently had their 11-game winning streak snapped. It will also mark the return of ex-Oilers Philip Broberg and Dylan Hollaway, both of whom were signed to offer sheets by the Blues that Edmonton decided not to match. The Oilers will need to be at full strenth when the postseason begins if they are to repeat last year's success of a lengthy run to the Stanley Cup Final.
