Vancouver Canucks' Pius Suter had his pay raise request denied recently, which all but signals the end of his time with the team, as negotiations broke off.

Pius Suter's Vancouver Canucks career seems to be drawing to a conclusion with the end of the 2024-25 season.
While he's provided great depth and versatility to the club this season, roster additions and young talent emerging have made him the odd man out.
Suter has had a fine season, notching a career-high 45 points (24 goals, 21 assists) in 77 games.
He has been a consistent presence in a variety of roles, from penalty killing to situations requiring clutch scoring, most prominently, scoring two goals in the final minute vs. Dallas to send the game into overtime.

Other players appear to be taking Suter's spot in the lineup

But the Canucks seem to be changing gears. Nils Hoglander has moved into a larger role, Vasily Podkolzin will be back in the NHL lineup, and the club might be adding a top-six winger through a trade.
As it stands, there is no clear role for Suter going forward. Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman had reported that Vancouver rejected Suter's contract request at the trade deadline, which may be a sign that both sides are already preparing for a split.
Although the Canucks haven't closed the door on a return, officially, Suter's camp is seemingly set for free agency.
Suter, 28, will interest the league as a whole as a consistent, under-the-cap goal-scoring forward who can play wing and center. Contenders looking for bottom-six depth to get their playoff runs started next season will be making the calls.
Barring a change, Suter seems set to suit up for his next NHL season with a different club.
