Nathan MacKinnon put the heat on Jared Bednar after Colorado's Game 1 loss, and it sounded like a top-six alarm.

This wasn't just a star blowing off steam. It was Colorado's most important forward pointing straight at the part of the series Vegas can still take away.
The Avalanche lost 4-2 at home Wednesday, which matters because they spent the regular season building the league's cleanest cushion: 121 points and a +99 goal differential.
MacKinnon's word was execution, repeated enough that the message stopped sounding accidental. He had one assist, three shots, and a -1 rating in 21:32.
In the clip, MacKinnon leans back in his stall, jaw tight, then cuts off the room after repeating the same word again.
"I've just said execution like 5 times."

That is where Bednar's problem starts. Colorado didn't look empty. Colorado looked irritated that its details didn't match its talent.

Bednar now owns the adjustment

MacKinnon's regular season was massive: 53 goals and 127 points in 80 games. When that player sounds this blunt, the bench hears it.
Vegas did not need a perfect night to steal Game 1. Carter Hart stopped 36 of 38 shots, and Brett Howden's goal stood as the winner.
That shifts the pressure from emotion to deployment. Bednar has to clean up Colorado's puck choices through the neutral zone before Vegas turns this into a grinding road map.
The Avalanche still have enough scoring to answer fast. Gabriel Landeskog and Valeri Nichushkin scored, while Devon Toews added an assist from the blue line.
MacKinnon wasn't asking for more noise. He was asking for sharper hockey.
Game 2 now becomes a response test, not just a series equalizer. If Colorado cleans up its first pass and special-teams timing, the room settles.
If not, MacKinnon's frustration becomes the defining sound of the series.
