The Anaheim Ducks, who are one of several NHL Clubs with a head coaching vacancy, have interviewed former Oilers coach Jay Woodcroft per Pierre LeBrun. The Anaheim Ducks are one of a handful of NHL teams that have a <a href='https://www.hockeylatest.com/nhl-team/vancouver-canucks/rick-tocchet-will-not-be-returning-as-canucks-head-coach-per-elliotte-friedman' class='lien_marqueur' target='_blank' rel='noopener'>vacancy behind the bench</a>; general manager Pat Verbeek decided to terminate Greg Cronin after 2 years on the job, neither of which yielded an appearance in the Stanley Cup Playoffs. As it happens, there are also several candidates looking to be hired for next year. One of them is former Edmonton Oilers coach Jay Woodcroft, who should have no problem garnering interest across the League. Per a newly released report from NHL analyst Pierre LeBrun, the Ducks have already interviewed Woodcroft for their open coaching position. Additionally, LeBrun reported that the Ducks have also met with University of Denver coach David Carle, who recently told the Chicago Blackhawks he wasn't interested in their vacancy. He was hired to be the head coach of the Edmonton Oilers after the team terminated coach Dave Tippett; he had previously been serving as head coach of their AHL affiliate Bakersfield Condors. Woodcroft led the Oilers to a Conference Final appearance in 2022 and a Conference Semi-Final appearance in 2023, but was terminated in November 2023 after the team started 3-9-1. He has a career head coaching record of 79-41-13.
