NHL insider Elliotte Friedman has just revealed some absolutely massive news, that Rick Tocchet will not be returning as head coach of the Canucks. It is expected that the Canucks and Tocchet will eventually release a statement with his reasoning as to why he did not want to extend his time in Vancouver, later today, Friedman relays. Tocchet stepped in to replace Bruce Boudreau midway through Vancouver's 2022-23 season. He led the Canucks to a staggering 50 wins in 2024 but saw his team miss the playoffs this spring, amid all of the other drama affecting the team. There has been a lot of turnover with regard to NHL coaches recently, as Mike Sullivan was just fired by the Penguins yesterday. Many teams will be searching for a new coach this offseason.
