Today the Vancouver Canucks and Detroit Red Wings faced off for a afternoon tilt ahead of Super Bowl weekend where the score ended 4-3 for the Red Wings with a Jake Walman OT winner. During the game, Wings forward Lucas Raymond got levelled by Ian Cole which made shockingly Debrincat, 5,7 forward fight Ian Cole to answer the hit.

Debrincat drops the Mitts

Red Wings forward Alex DeBrincat dropped the mitts with Canucks defender Ian Cole after Cole hit Lucas Raymond, clearly Cat didn't like the hit and just went with no hesitation, something that I'm sure DeBrincat quickly began to regret; take a look.
Debrincat eventually went on to lose the fight, but he stepped up for his teammate and it was defintely something that gave his teammates a lot more respect for him following the fight. Ian Cole is 6,1, 225lbs and Alex Debrincat is 5,7, 165lbs. Not the most fair fight we have seen this NHL season!
Im sure the Red Wings Organization don't like the idea of their star player dropping the mitts instead of scoring goals which is the reason they acquired him in the first place, it will be interesting if they have a chat about it.
Props to Debrincat for taking initative, and never a dull moment in hockey!
