Surprising Team may save Edmonton Oilers From Campbell Contract
The Edmonton Oilers have been looking to make a blockbuster addition ahead of the 2023-24 NHL Trade Deadline, but to do so, they may need to somehow find a team to take on the albatross contract of Jack Campbell.
Philadelphia Flyers interested in Campbell?
Despite the struggles that saw him demoted to the AHL, it appears as though the Oilers may potentially be finding trade partners, with the Philadelphia Flyers emerging as a possible candidate.
The Philadelphia Flyers could have interest in G Jack Campbell in a trade with the Edmonton Oilers involving D Sean Walker. Per, David Pagnotta.
Pagnotta writes: «They [Oilers] like Walker, and the Flyers are not only willing to retain part of his contract, but they are also willing to take on a salary if incentivized to do so. Jack Campbell, anyone?

At this point, it's pure speculation that Campbell is a player the Flyers could take a shot on, but given that Carter Hart is done with the team, Samuel Ersson needs a solid backup, so this would certainly make sense for both parties.
A solid run in the AHL as of late
While he struggled early for the Bakersfield Condors, Campbell has bounced back nicely, as he has posted a 2.90 GAA and a .909 save percentage on the year.
Ultimately, it would take some major incentives for the Oilers to be able to unload the contract, but if they can take a player like Walker back, this could work out well for both of these teams as they look to make deep playoff pushes in 2023-24.
