At the trade deadline, the Philadelphia Flyers and the Colorado Avalanche completed a trade involving Sean Walker, Ryan Johansen and draft picks.

A new development suggests that something went wrong in that deal.

Daniel Briere Accuses Colorado of Deception in Major Deal

Daniel Briere completed a big trade with the Avalanche, sending top defenseman Sean Walker to Colorado. Read the full details here:

To COL:
Sean Walker
2026 5th RD pick

To PHI:
Ryan Johansen (placed on waivers)
2025 1st RD pick*

The 2025 first-round pick is top-10 protected.

After the trade, the Flyers placed Johansen on waivers, indicating they did not plan to use him. However, here's what complicates the situation. Johansen revealed that he was struggling with an injury, meaning he couldn't be sent down to the AHL.

Briere commented on the situation:

"He claimed to be injured when we traded for him, so we had him see the doctors. They found an injury, so now he's going to be rehabbing. You can't send down a player who's injured, so he's going to be doing rehab until we don't know when. So, he's back on our roster doing rehab and trying to get better."

The Flyers were forced to keep Johanson on their roster, using valuable cap space that could've been used for other deadline moves.

The Avalanche could face significant repercussions if the Flyers prove that the Avs didn't disclose Johansen's injury before the trade.
