Unexpected turn of events regarding Carey Price during the summer?

BY MARCO    MARCH 4, 2023  (11:25)
During his press conference following the end of the trade deadline, Kent Hughes discussed the complex situation involving Carey Price and his massive contract.

The number 31's salary weighs heavily on the organization's books. The reality is that he will remain on the long-term injured list for the remainder of his contract, with three more seasons to go, starting next year.

However, the CH's GM has opened the door to trading him, if the opportunity would benefit the team's salary situation.

"For sure, if we have a chance to trade Carey, we'll evaluate him, but it wasn't a priority for us. [...]" - Kent Hughes

Note that according to the making of his deal, he will earn around $7.5M per year until 2026, so there is still a lot of money left to pay him.

This makes him much less interesting for other teams than Shea Weber's contract, for example, who earned $1M annually for the remaining years of his contract.
