Phil Kessel Could Miss Major Milestone

Phil Kessel has made a name for himself in the NHL as an "Ironman," a title he's earned by playing in an astounding 1,064 consecutive games throughout his 1,294-game career. Since 2010, Kessel has appeared in every single NHL game available to him, showcasing a level of durability that few can match.

Drafted 5th overall by the Boston Bruins in 2006, Kessel's career has taken him from the Bruins to the Maple Leafs, Penguins, Coyotes, and Golden Knights. Despite changing jerseys multiple times, Kessel's commitment to hitting the ice every game has remained unshakeable for every team he's played for, with the exception of the Bruins.

Kessel's impressive career stats include 413 goals and 992 points, putting him tantalizingly close to the coveted 1,000-point mark. However, with no NHL contract in sight – not even a Professional Tryout (PTO) – Kessel's chance at reaching this major milestone is now in jeopardy.

Although Kessel's prime may be behind him, he still possesses a wealth of experience and scoring ability that could benefit any team's fourth line. Fresh off his 3rd career Stanley Cup win, Kessel could choose to end his career on a high note. But doing so would mean forgoing the opportunity to reach the 1,000-point mark, a milestone he's worked tirelessly to achieve.
