Paul Byron's future has been revealed with the Canadiens

BY MARCO    AUGUST 15, 2023  (4:54 PM)
While we've been waiting more than a week for Kent Hughes to address the media, he finally did so a few minutes after announcing the Jeff Petry trade to Detroit.

We got several juicy details, but it's something else that caught our attention here.

Hughes was asked if it was over with Paul Byron, to which he replied yes." His contract is up. I know he has no intention of moving from Montreal in the next year and I'm going to let him announce his retirement."

The general manager was then asked if he had a position to offer the former No. 41 in the organization, and this is where it gets interesting.

"We have a meeting scheduled for September on the subject." - Kent Hughes

So, the rumors that Byron will be hired by the CH in a management position are well and truly true. Hughes gave no clues, but the planned meeting between the two men is quite revealing.
