Montreal Canadiens: the next player to leave has reportedly been revealed
In fact, the Habs GM isn't afraid to move to improve his team. If Marc Bergevin said it was difficult to trade players, Hughes shows us that for him, it's just the opposite.
In fact, the GM still hasn't completed his personnel moves for this summer. According to Eric Engels, the next to go is a goaltender.
In a press briefing, Hughes made it very clear that his plan is to free up about 3.5 million on his payroll before the start of the season. He also left it unclear which goaltender would leave the organization, between DeSmith and Allen.
Trading DeSmith would make sense, but Jake Allen is no longer very dominant and his salary cut would be enough to put Kent Hughes under the salary cap. To be continued.
Not that I think Kent Hughes is wheeling and dealing from here to start of camp, but don't necessarily believe he's done. Think there's a chance he'll flip DeSmith at some point. Not a guarantee, but a chance.- Eric Engels (@EricEngels) August 15, 2023
