Jonathan Drouin's departure: a fiery forward proposed to take his place

BY MARCO    JUNE 5, 2023  (12:05)
Barring a huge surprise, Jonathan Drouin played his last game with the Canadiens. The forward failed to live up to the expectations, perhaps too high, that were set for him in Montreal.

Still, a healthy Drouin is a hockey player capable of 50+ points per season. His loss will have to be replaced, and as Cimon Asselin of HF and also Maxim Lapierre mention, Tyler Bertuzzi would be the ideal candidate.

According to a firm of contract forecasting experts, Bertuzzi should receive an offer of around six years and $5.25 million per year. The scorer of 62 points in 68 games in 2021-22 would replace Drouin's production, while being paid roughly the same salary and bringing a dimension of sandpaper and toughness.

What's more, his 10 points in seven playoff games speak for themselves. Bertuzzi is built for the playoffs.
