Georges Laraque no longer wants Pierre-Luc Dubois in Montreal and he gives two specific reasons

This file is starting to be difficult to follow.

Just a few days ago, Georges Laraque said he was ready to trade Lane Hutson for Pierre-Luc Dubois.

Today, Laraque doesn't even want Dubois in Montreal. And he gives two reasons for that.

For the full excerpt, it's right here: BPM Sports

Reason #1: Kirby Dach's evolution. According to Laraque, the Canadiens no longer need a Dubois, as they already have Nick Suzuki and Kirby Dach as their first two center players.

Of course, the CH could simply put Dach or Dubois on the wing or simply play with a rotation of three center players who play the same amount of minutes, approximately. But that doesn't seem like a good idea according to Georges Laraque.

Reason #2: Payroll. He doesn't want the Canadiens to become like the Toronto Maple Leafs. Nick Suzuki makes close to 8 million dollars per season, it will be the same for Cole Caufield and Pierre-Luc Dubois. When the time comes to pay Kaiden Guhle, Kirby Dach, even Juraj Slafkovsky and the team is ready to be competitive, we could end up with 4 forwards who make more than 7 million dollars.

That's far from ideal.

For these reasons, Laraque does not believe it would be necessary to go get Dubois, even if it is during the 2024 free-agent market and the CH has nothing to give to acquire him.
