A well-known hedge funder who is also a minority owner with the Coyotes was arrested
The actions of a minority stakeholder have added to the state's woes, potentially putting their arena at risk of being lost.
Andrew Barroway, who holds a 5% stake in the Coyotes and previously owned a controlling interest in the team, having purchased it from other owners in 2017, has been arrested on charges of strangulation.
The Arizona State University Sun Devils' arena agreement with the Coyotes includes a "good behavior" provision.
It remains to be seen whether this provision will be sufficient to nullify the agreement. The team's future is now in jeopardy.
