Kevin Weekes says Sergei Bobrovsky, 37, and Edmonton have talked, and that drops a $10 million deadline bomb on the Oilers.

Bobrovsky is in year seven of a $70 million deal. He can hit UFA on July 1, and he has a 16-team no-trade list this season.
That is the data punch. The fit is obvious, because Edmonton still wants a true stopper for a spring run after two straight Final losses to Florida.
The cap math is the hard part. Edmonton is about $2.14 million over its projected cap, so retention or money out would have to be part of any real push.
Stan Bowman already spent this week. He added Connor Murphy at 50 percent retention, then turned Andrew Mangiapane into Jason Dickinson and Colton Dach.
"I'm told the Oilers and Bobrovsky's camp have had some conversations."

The on-ice case still makes sense. Bobrovsky brings calm tracking, rebound control, and playoff scar tissue that this roster would trust right away.
Edmonton's current tandem is Tristan Jarry and Connor Ingram. Jarry is 15-7-2 with a .890 save rate, and Ingram is 8-6-1 with a .890 mark.

Sergei Bobrovsky would change Edmonton Oilers pressure fast

Oilers fans can feel the split, all-in for a Cup, but wary of paying big for an aging goalie.
This is why the rumor has heat. Bobrovsky is still a brand name, but his 2025-26 line sits at 22-19-1 with a 3.13 GAA and .873 save percentage.
So this is not about a long fix. It is about betting that his playoff floor is higher than the one Edmonton has today.
The next clue comes fast. Edmonton faces Carolina on Friday, and every crease decision now gets read through this rumor.
If Weekes is onto something, this is not a soft check-in. It is Edmonton asking one blunt question before the deadline, can Bobrovsky steal four rounds?
