The Vancouver Canucks have continued the fire sale of their roster ahead of the NHL trade deadline as Conor Garland has been shipped out East.
The Vancouver Canucks have been one of the biggest sellers this season getting rid of multiple veterans as they look to completely rebuild their roster.
Tonight, that has continued as reports have now confirmed that the Canucks are moving on from Conor Garland and sending him to the Columbus Blue Jackets.
Vancouver Canucks trade Conor Garland to the Columbus Blue Jackets
According to multiple reports, the Canucks have agreed to a trade with the Columbus Blue Jackets centered around Garland.
Further reports from Pierre LeBrun and Elliotte Friedman have confirmed that the Canucks will be receiving a 2nd and 3rd-round pick in return for Garland.
Garland, 29, is having a down year for the Canucks totaling career lows in points and goals but has shown great offensive ability as a middle-six forward for the Blue Jackets on the stretch run.
Garland is also about to head into a brand new 6-year extension that will kick in next season for the Blue Jackets keeping him there until he is 35 cementing him as a key piece of the Blue Jackets present and future.
With Garland moved, the Canucks now will be able to focus on other players and potentially a blockbuster deal involving Elias Pettersson that has been rumored over the last couple of days.
As the trade deadline approaches, it will be fun to see if Allvin has another deal up his sleeve or if the Canucks are done until the offseason.
