Team USA Shockingly Demotes Star Player Prior To Tonight's Massive Game Against Canada
Team USA is demoting Winnipeg Jets forward Kyle Connor all the way down to the fourth line prior to tonight's massive tilt against Team Canada.
Winnipeg Jets forward Kyle Connor has found himself bumped down to Team USA's fourth line for today's match against Team Canada.
Connor played atop the line alongside Jack Eichel and Matthew Tkachuk during the initial match against Finland in the 4 Nations Face-Off.
But midway through the game, Team USA head coach Mike Sullivan mixed it up, replacing Connor with Brady Tkachuk.
It was successful, as Connor assisted Matt Boldy's goal, while the revised first line lit the offense, firing two at even strength.
Connor plays alongside Brock Nelson and Vincent Trocheck on the fourth line versus Canada. In spite of the swap, he still gets time on Team USA's second power play.
USA advances to the finals with a regulation win tonight
A victory over Canada sends the Americans well down the road toward advancing toward the final, with a guaranteed spot if they manage to close it out in regulation.
Jets goalie Connor Hellebuyck must play hero again, blocking Canada's star-studded forward unit from giving the team an advantage.
It won't be easy silencing Canada's offense, featuring stars Sidney Crosby, Nathan MacKinnon, Connor McDavid, Mitch Marner, and Cale Makar.
Their offense has one of the greatest rosters ever gathered. Jets' Josh Morrissey, the defender, also plays an increased role as Shea Theodore has been scratched out due to injury.
