Tonight, Minnesota Wild defenseman Quinn Hughes has set an NHL record in just his 25th game with the team after being traded by the Vancouver Canucks.
Earlier this season, Quinn Hughes was traded to the Minnesota Wild by the struggling Vancouver Canucks.
The move was seen as an opportunity for Hughes to get a fresh start while the Canucks were able to jumpstart their rebuild.
In the short-term, the move was always expected to favor the Wild but Hughes has shattered expectations with his incredible play now setting a record for points with a new team.

According to the Minnesota Wild PR team, Hughes’ 29 assists in 25 games is the most ever by a defenseman in that span to begin a tenure with one team.
Quinn Hughes has recorded 29 assists with the Minnesota Wild, the most ever by a NHL defenseman in his first 25 games with a club.
Hughes ranks third in this category overall trailing legendary forwards Wayne Gretzky, Craig Janney, and Peter Forsberg.
Among all skaters, he trails only Wayne Gretzky (35, LAK, 1988-89), Peter Forsberg (34, PHI, 2005-06) and Craig Janney (30, STL, 1992-92).
In addition, Hughes became the third fastest defenseman to reach 400 assists trailing only NHL legends Bobby Orr and Paul Coffey.
With still nearly half of the season to go it will be fun to watch Hughes and see what other records he can take down before the Minnesota Wild head to the Stanley Cup Playoffs.
