Today, Lyle Richardson of Bleacher Report put together his Mount Rushmore for every single NHL team including the Western Canadian teams.

With the NHL offseason nearing its end there is a low point in action and news across the league which leads to other fun content being produced.
NHL analyst Lyle Richardson of Bleacher Report decided to tackle the four best players for each franchise over the last 25 years.
Let's dive into who he highlighted for each of the Western Canadian Teams

Calgary Flames

First up, the Calgary Flames have had an up and down team over the last 25 years with more success early in the decade.
With that said, their team features four franchise legends Miikka Kiprusoff, Jarome Iginla, Johnny Gaudreau, and Mark Giordano.
Each of the four players are award winners with Iginla and Kiprusoff seeing more team success throughout their careers.
A Hall of Famer, Iginla leads the Flames with 1,219 games played, 525 goals and 1,095 points. He won the Maurice Richard Trophy twice and the Art Ross Trophy in 2001-02. Kiprusoff won the Vezina Trophy in 2005-06 and is the goaltending franchise leader in several categories, including wins (305) and shutouts (41).

Winner of the James Norris Memorial Trophy in 2018-19, Giordano is third all-time in games played (949), sixth in assists (366) and 10th in points with 509. Gaudreau spent nine seasons with the Flames, winning the Lady Byng Memorial Trophy in 2016-17.

These four players including the late great Johnny Gaudreau represent the standard that today's team will strive to get back to for the 2025-26 season.

Edmonton Oilers

The Edmonton Oilers are almost the polar opposite of the Flames as they have three active players leading their Mount Rushmore Connor McDavid, Leon Draisaitl, and Ryan Nugent-Hopkins joined by alumni Ryan Smyth.
The case for McDavid and Draisaitl makes itself as they are two of the best players in the world leading the Oilers to Stanley Cup Finals appearances.
As for Nugent-Hopkins and Smythe their longevity puts them incredibly high on several all-time Oilers lists which was a key factor for Richardson when making their list.
Nugent-Hopkins is third among the franchise leaders with 959 games played and is seventh with 477 assists and 748 points. Smyth spent 15 of his 19 NHL seasons with the Oilers, sitting second all-time with 971 games played, seventh with 296 goals and ninth with 631 points.

McDavid, Draisaitl, and Nugent-Hopkins will look to continue adding to their franchise legacies by chasing a Stanley Cup once again next season.

Vancouver Canucks

The Canucks are a franchise who have been in turmoil over the past few years so it makes sense that their Mount Rushmore skews older much like the Flames.
The Sedin twins headline the list followed by teammate Markus Naslund, and current Canucks captain Quinn Hughes.
The Sedins defined hockey for an entire generation in the 2000s playing alongside Markus Naslund and continue to impact the Canucks organization today.
As for Hughes, he is the leader of this current group and the best player to play for the Canucks since the Sedins hung up their skates.

Winnipeg Jets

Finally, we have the Winnipeg Jets who are unique as they are the only team on the list to feature a player who never actually played in Winnipeg.
With the Atlanta Thrashers being part of the last 25 years of franchise history former Thrasher Ilya Kovalchuk makes the Jets list.
He is joined by former Jets captain Blake Wheeler and current Jets icons Mark Scheifele and Connor Hellebuyck.
Wheeler spent over a decade with the Winnipeg Jets and just recently announced his official retirement from the NHL.
Scheifele has been a fan favorite and superstar for the Jets endearing himself to the city even through personal tragedy this past season.
Then, of course, we have the reigning Hart and Vezina Trophy winner Connor Hellebuyck who is widely considered the best goaltender in Winnipeg Jets history.
Each of these teams despite having various team success over the last 25 years have produced legends of the game.
Now, all eyes will be on Western Canada to see what the next 25 years will hold.
