For the first time in quite some time, Canucks captain Quinn Hughes was finally seen at practice today without a non-contact jersey, truly showing signs of progress. Vancouver Canucks defenseman Quinn Hughes was <a href='https://www.tsn.ca/nhl/ice-chips-quinn-hughes-sheds-non-contact-jersey-at-vancouver-canucks-practice-1.2269885' class='lien_marqueur' target='_blank' rel='noopener'>sporting a regular-contact jersey during practice</a> on Wednesday, TSN's Salim Valji reports. <div align='center' class='pl20 pr20'><blockquote class='twitter-tweet' data-lang='en'><a href='https://twitter.com/salimvalji/status/1899876645651308795'> </a></blockquote></div> The 25-year-old skated in a non-contact jersey on Tuesday but missed <a href='https://www.hockeylatest.com/nhl/news/canadiens-fans-slam-officiating-during-last-night-game-vs-canucks-despite-winning' class='lien_marqueur' target='_blank' rel='noopener'>Vancouver's 4-2 loss to Montreal</a> that night. Following the game, Canucks head coach Rick Tocchet told TSN's <a href='https://x.com/FarhanLaljiTSN' class='lien_marqueur' target='_blank' rel='noopener'>Farhan Lalji</a> that there's a good possibility Hughes plays on Wednesday against Calgary. <div align='center' class='pl20 pr20'><blockquote class='twitter-tweet' data-lang='en'><a href='https://twitter.com/FarhanLaljiTSN/status/1899689765869678970'> </a></blockquote></div> <a href='https://www.nhl.com/canucks/player/quinn-hughes-8480800' class='lien_marqueur' target='_blank' rel='noopener'>Hughes</a> has played in only four games after tweaking something in a 6-3 defeat to Seattle on March 1. He's been day-to-day since then. The Canucks' captain also missed six games last February and the entire 4 Nations Face-Off with an oblique strain. The 2023-24 Norris Trophy winner has 14 goals and 46 assists, for 60 points in 50 games this year. Vancouver hosts a pivotal road game against the Flames, who hold a one-point lead on them for the Western Conference's last wild-card spot. In other news, Calgary recalled forward Adam Klapka from the AHL's Calgary Wranglers on Wednesday. <div align='center' class='pl20 pr20'><blockquote class='twitter-tweet' data-lang='en'><a href='https://twitter.com/NHLFlames/status/1899853205451981227'> </a></blockquote></div> <h3>Hughes and Klapka could both be playing against each other</h3> The 24-year-old has played 13 NHL games this season, posting once and averaging 8:10 of ice time per game. There's a good chance he will slot into the lineup for the game against Vancouver. <a href='https://www.nhl.com/flames/player/adam-klapka-8483609' class='lien_marqueur' target='_blank' rel='noopener'>Klapka</a> has been productive in the AHL with 14 goals and 26 points in 33 games. The 6-foot-8 right winger has not played for Calgary since March 2 when the Flames lost 2-1 to Carolina. The Flames (30-23-10) and Canucks (29-24-11) play Wednesday in a pivotal battle for a playoff spot.
