The Edmonton Oilers' goaltending let them down in the Stanley Cup Playoffs and now a new mock trade has suggested a major upgrade.

The Edmonton Oilers have been open about their desire to upgrade their goaltending tandem this summer despite making the Stanley Cup Finals.
The Oilers duo of Stuart Skinner and Calvin Pickard did enough to guide Edmonton in the regular season but when the lights were the brightest the Oilers could not trust either goalie to step up.
This lack of trust in Pickard and Skinner has led to major trade rumors surrounding both players as the Oilers scour the trade market for an upgrade.
Tonight, a new mock trade has emerged that would provide that upgrade via a move involving the Vancouver Canucks.

Edmonton Oilers And Vancouver Canucks Linked In Blockbuster Mock Trade

Earlier this week, reports indicated that the Vancouver Canucks would be willing to part ways with now backup Thatcher Demko in exchange for a young top-six center.
This report has naturally led many including Heavy Sports to see a fit between the Oilers and Canucks.
The Edmonton Oilers have Matt Savoie a former top-10 pick center in their prospect pool due to their logjam at the center position they could part ways with Savoie in exchange for Demko.
As a result, the mock trade from Heavy Sports would see Demko and a 2025 4th-round pick go to Edmonton with Matthew Savoie and Calvin Pickard coming the other way.
EDMONTON OILERS GET:

Thatcher Demko, 2025 4th Round Pick

VANCOUVER CANUCKS GET:

Matt Savoie, Calvin Pickard

In this deal, the Oilers get a goaltender that when healthy is one of the premier starters in the NHL.
If Stan Bowman and company believe they can keep Demko in the lineup it is a no-brainer move for them.
From the Canucks perspective this deal essentially comes down to their belief in Matt Savoie.
With this trade, Savoie would already be on his third NHL organization in his young career but he has shown incredible potential putting up 54 points in 66 AHL games.
Pickard is a nice addition to back up Kevin Lankinen and has proven he can be good in stretches even playing well in chaos when called upon.
Ultimately, this trade proposal is unlikely but, it could provide a starting point for the two organizations to consider a move centered around Demko becoming an Edmonton Oiler.
