Controversial Stars Goal in Game 4 Sparks Hilarious Taunting from Jets Fans in Game 5

Jets supporters in Winnipeg demonstrated their intelligence and annoyance on Thursday evening in Game 5, responding to a goal that was called off by coming up with a clever chant that evoked memories of a questionable episode earlier in the series when a controversial Stars goal was allowed in Game 3.

Later in the second period, Mark Scheifele appeared to score his second of the night, only to have it taken away after officials decided he used his hand to direct the puck past the goalie into the net.

The call was easy enough to make, but Jets fans were not going quietly into that good night. As the period came to a close, chants of "should have kicked it" echoed at Canada Life Centre, a stinging reference to the Game 3 controversy.

That was the chant calling up a goal by Dallas defenseman Alex Petrovic, who appeared to have kicked the puck in the net.

Following a lengthy review, the NHL confirmed the goal, ruling that Jets goalie Connor Hellebuyck "propelled" it into his own goal. Winnipeg fans clearly haven't forgotten the call.

Despite the disallowed Winnipeg goal, the Jets didn't make a blunder in Game 5. They thrashed the Stars with an emphatic 4-0 shutout win, keeping their hopes alive and bringing the series deficit down to 3-2.

Saturday night's Game 6 will be held in Dallas, where Winnipeg will look to tie the series and force a deciding Game 7.
