Winnipeg Jets' Mark Scheifele got rocked by St. Louis Blues' Brayden Schenn, and a decision on his fate has been revealed by NHL insider Andy Strickland. Vulgarity between the Winnipeg Jets and the St. Louis Blues heightened in Game 5 after Winnipeg Jets captain Mark Scheifele was injured on two hits late in the first period and departed from the contest. Scheifele was struck first, 6:12 into the contest, by Blues captain Brayden Schenn, who received a minor penalty for interference.

Loading from Twitter ...

Radek Faksa fired another shot early in the game as Scheifele entered the attacking area after crossing the blue line. Despite the physicality and Scheifele's early departure, no further action will be taken by the league.
The hit was determined to be not dangerous enough
According to Andy Strickland of FanDuel Sports in a report, the NHL will not be issuing supplemental discipline to Schenn since the hit is not dangerous enough to warrant further review.

Loading from Twitter ...

Postgame frustrations carried over off the ice. Blues head coach Jim Montgomery clarified the injury was incurred on the second hit, while Jets coach Scott Arniel had no update on Scheifele's status or if he would travel to Game 6 in St. Louis. Let's make it clear...No. 55 [Scheifele] got hurt from the Faksa hit, Montgomery said. He played six minutes after the Schenn hit. He didn't come back after he got rocked by Faksa. I didn't know Monty had his medical degree. He's way off base, Jets head coach Scott Arniel fired back. The Jets, without Scheifele, were able to pull out the win with a 5-3 victory against the Blues. They will get to finish off the Blues and go on to the second round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs, possibly as early as Friday. Scheifele has been huge this playoffs, tied for second on the team in scoring with five points in four games alongside Kyle Connor. He also led the Jets in regular-season scoring with 39 goals and 87 points in 82 games, second on the team.
