Wes McCauley Screws the Maple Leafs Once Again
Liljegren Gets Injured in Dirty Play by Marchand

Timothy Liljegren found himself in a precarious situation last night, courtesy of Brad Marchand's questionable actions on the ice. Marchand made Liljegren fall onto the boards and was visibly injured.
Wes McCauley, the well-known and controversial referee, chose not to call a penalty on the play.
Keefe Questions McCauley's Explanation for Missed Call

In the following video, we see that McCauley had a clear view of the incident:
Nevertheless, he refrained from making the call, leaving Leafs' head coach, Keefe, perplexed.
Keefe inquired about it and he wasn't satisfied with the ref's explanations:
"I got nothing," said Keefe. "They didn't see the stick go between his legs for the can opener to make him go feet-first into the boards in the most dangerous area of the ice. He didn't see it."
It's worth noting that McCauley and Keefe have a personal history, potentially influencing the referee's decision-making in Maple Leafs' games.
