On December 11, the Nashville Predators took the hockey world by surprise by sending the 23-year-old forward Eeli Tolvanen to waivers.

The Tennessee team did not believe he would be claimed, as the Finn had only four points in 13 games. It must be said that this is a very bad management on the part of the Predators, because Tolvanen was injured at the beginning of the season, which somehow explains his ordinary performances.
Moreover, playing mainly on the fourth line last year, it didn't take a genius to know that this player, with an undeniable talent, was stifled in Nashville.
The Kraken jumped at the chance after 22 teams looked at him and added another talent to their team. Tolvanen has been performing well since joining the team with five points in as many games.
Predators general manager David Poile admitted that he made a mistake in drafting the forward.
"It could be a mistake on our part. It's my fault if it turns out he's successful." - David Poile
It remains to be seen now if Tolvanen will continue this trend, but the former first-round pick in 2017 really wasn't a big gamble for the team that would claim him, as he commands a very honest $1.45M salary for another season.
Watching him play yesterday, I still have it on my heart that the Montreal Canadiens were one of 22 teams to turn their nose up at him. In my opinion, Kent Hughes should not have let such a talented player go for free.
