During yesterday's game against the Minnesota Wild, there was a lot of action on the press gallery at the Bell Centre. Many scouts were there to watch the game.

Of the lot, the Anaheim Ducks clearly have a CH player in their sights, as they sent three members of the organization to the same game. Among the three, there was even the Ducks' assistant general manager on hand. Normally, this is a sign that there is a serious corporate evaluation of a specific player or players.
"A scout, the director of player personnel and the assistant general manager. That's a whole contingent from Anaheim (to watch the Habs tonight)." - Andrew Zadarnowski

Incidentally, since Kent Hughes is actively shopping for a right-handed defenseman right now, one commenter noted that type of defenseman on the Anaheim side. It's possible that one of these could be a target for the Habs GM.

We can take John Klingberg, Jamie Drysdale and Drew Helleson off the board right off the bat, but a veteran like Kevin Shattenkirk or experienced AHL defensemen flirting with the NHL like Axel Andersson or Austin Strand could possibly interest Hughes.
One thing is for sure, with Joel Armia and Joel Edmundson coming back very soon, the organization is going to have to liquidate contracts to make room for them in the lineup.
