Tim Peel and Many Others Call Out the Leafs to Get Rid of Samsonov

The controversial former referee Tim Peel made a big statement about the Maple Leafs last night on X, formerly known as Twitter.

Peel often shares his controversial opinions on X and last night, he sent a brutal message about the Maple Leafs's goalie: Ilya Samsonov.




Samsonov has indeed been very bad this season. With Joseph Woll's injury, he plays way too much for a guy with a 5-2-6 record, 0.862 SV% and 3.94 GAA.

Everyone Thinks Samsonov Must Go

Samsonov's struggles are getting old. All season long, he simply hasn't been good enough. It reaches a point where Leafs' fans are nervous when he's sent on the ice.

Journalists, including Jonas Siegel from The Athletic, argue that it might be time for the Leafs to reassess their use of Samsonov.

Toronto's coach Sheldon Keefe also expressed disappointment in Samsonov's recent game.



With Joseph Woll injured, the Leafs don't have a lot of options for their goalies. Martin Jones can't play all the games until Woll returns.

When the young goalie does come back, getting rid of Samsonov should be Treliving's priority.

The decision to keep him on the roster makes Treliving and Shanahan look bad and could slowly lose the respect of Leafs' fans.
