Senators captain Brady Tkachuk will miss his next game due to suspension based on an NHL rule.
Tkachuk Picks Up Suspension On Technicality
The NHL has a rule that states if a player receives an instigator penalty with less than five minutes left in regulation than he will automatically be suspended one game and his team's head coach will be fined 10,000 dollars.
Tkachuk technically violated this rule when he fought Alex Tuch tonight and got an instigator penalty for it. The Senators reportedly will appeal the suspension and they have a decent case to have it overturned since fights like this aren't really the reason the rule exists. Additionally, Tuch did shove Tkachuk before the fight started. We will likely get a ruling tomorrow. The Senators next play on Thursday when they take on the Islanders.
