The stars are aligned for Jonathan Drouin to have the best season of his career this year. The forward is healthy, he has the chance to play under Martin St-Louis, he plays with the best offense the Tricolore has had since he arrived in Montreal and he is in the last year of his contract.

However, things aren't going too well for him, as he was left out of the first two games of the season and will be out of the game again on Tuesday night against the Wild. He has only two assists in six games.

According to Philippe Boucher, the explanation is pretty easy:

"He works hard in practice, but he took it easy during the summer. It's hard to catch up." - Philippe Boucher

Drouin has often mentioned that he works hard in practice and that the coach's decision is out of his control. According to Boucher, that's totally false. Now 27 years old and with all the talent he has, he should be a top-six player with no questions asked.
