In a recent report from NHL insider Frank Seravalli, it has been revealed that Skyler Brind'Amour, son of former NHL player and current Carolina Hurricanes head coach Rod Brind'Amour, has informed the Edmonton Oilers that he will not be signing with the team. Instead, he plans to test the open market as a free agent.

Skyler Brind'Amour Will Test the Free Agent Market

"Hearing @QU_MIH national champion Skyler Brind'Amour will not be signing with the #Oilers. Brind'Amour will become an unrestricted free agent on Aug. 15."

Skyler was drafted in the 6th round by the Edmonton Oilers in 2017. This season, he has been impressive with 32 points in 41 games while playing for Quinnipiac University.
With Skyler opting for free agency, speculation has naturally arisen about whether he might sign with the Carolina Hurricanes, where his father Rod currently serves as head coach. The father-son duo could create a compelling storyline and potentially strengthen the team, but only time will tell if this becomes a reality.
