Kyle Dubas' salary cap maneuvering has led Gary Bettman to penalize the team, resulting in an unusual goalie situation for the Toronto Maple Leafs.

Leafs to Rely on Backup OHL Goalie

The Leafs had to execute some salary cap gymnastics to sign Matthew Knies. Regrettably, this required sending Joseph Woll down, and since the Leafs essentially orchestrated their own emergency scenario to recall Woll without salary cap repercussions, the league disallowed the move.
Having been supported by two university goalies previously, tonight they will confront their most challenging task yet - backup goalie Matt Onuksa of the Windsor Spitfires.
Onuksa recorded a .868 save percentage in 33 OHL games on the top-seeded Windsor Spitfires this season, and he will now experience his first, and possibly last, NHL action.
Fortunately, the game against the Tampa Bay Lightning won't affect the standings, as the Leafs have already secured their home advantage.
Given the inconsequential nature of this game, it's illogical to start Ilya Samsonov right before the playoffs.
Nonetheless, it will be fascinating to watch Onuksa face off against Andrei Vasilevskiy...
