During a Challenge Cup match in England yesterday, between the Nottingham Panthers and the Sheffield Steelers, former Pittsburgh Penguins player Adam Johnson received a skate blow to the neck. Sadly, we have just learned that Johnson has passed away as a result of this injury. The Panthers have just announced the news on their Facebook page. <div align='center' class='pl20 pr20'><iiffrraammee src=https://www.facebook.com/plugins/post.php?href=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.facebook.com%2Fthenottinghampanthers%2Fposts%2Fpfbid02EpjiokMnMeT4anB7xVdD6aVmeqrVab7S9Z6S6WWtoLm2JVAGLLd6unTaQaXUjdVvl&show_text=true width=100% height=434 style=border:none;overflow:hidden scrolling=no frameborder=0 allowfullscreen=true allow=autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; picture-in-picture; web-share></iiffrraammee></div> <div align='center' class='pl20 pr20'><blockquote class='twitter-tweet' data-lang='en'><a href='https://twitter.com/br_openice/status/1718586748010197295?s=46&t=iiuZoF_X10DeNU8hETHhMA'> </a></blockquote></div> <div align='center' class='pl20 pr20'><blockquote class='twitter-tweet' data-lang='en'><a href='https://twitter.com/jeffmarek/status/1718586340827156773?s=46&t=iiuZoF_X10DeNU8hETHhMA'> </a></blockquote></div> The players and 8,000 fans left the arena while Johnson received treatment on the ice, followed by cardiopulmonary resuscitation. Johnson, 29, played 13 career NHL games with the Penguins. Our deepest condolences to the family.
