Major statement by Jake Allen that will have an impact on Samuel Montembeault
Towards the end of last season, Jake Allen was beginning to show signs of fatigue. Samuel Montembeault took over in fine style, adding a gold medal at the Worlds just afterwards.
Since then, it's been clear in the hearts of fans that Samuel Montembeault will be the number one goalie, but not so fast.
Allen has no intention of playing second fiddle, as he made clear in a press conference:
"I want to play more games than I did last year." - Jake Allen
Let's just say it's a clear message about his intentions. Perhaps we'll be treated to a hot, healthy battle between the two goalies over who deserves the net.
Whatever happens, even if Monty has the net most of the time, we know Allen will be an exemplary teammate and will do everything he can to help his young friend.
