Swift Current Broncos Head Coach Suspended For Confrontation During Practice



The Swift Current Broncos are sitting in the middle of the pack in the WHL, but are now dealing with an unfortunate incident that occurred during one of their practices. On Tuesday the Broncos announced Head Coach Devan Praught was suspended indefinitely. Now, more details on the incident that led to the suspension have been released.

In a video of the incident, reviewed by The Athletic, Praught can be seen skating across the ice at Swift Current's Innovation Credit Union iPlex while shouting and swearing at 17-year-old defenseman Josh Fluker during a drill.
As he approaches Fluker, he confronts him at the team's bench and swings his stick down, breaking Fluker's




The Broncos are not making any more comments on the situation. Assistant coach Taras McEwen will take over in Praught's absence.

Second Coach to Be Suspended in the WHL This Season



Praught is the second coach to be suspended indefinitely in the WHL. This shows just how committed the WHL is to cleaning up the culture of hockey. This type of old-school coaching is no longer acceptable, especially when it is directed toward young players who are often still minors.
