Yesterday, news broke that a former No. 2 overall pick in Nolan Patrick was done on the ice, but today, more clarification has revealed that's not the case at all.

Nolan Patrick clarifies his stance on the retirement announcement

While we didn't hear anything from Patrick at all, he was hired as a hockey coach, with the company announcing they had hired 'retired NHL pro' Nolan Patrick, leading to the widespread news of his retirement.
Today however, the company has changed the announcement, instead calling Patrick a '4x NHL pro with significant experience', with a return to the NHL one day seemingly not out of the question.

A disappointing start to a once promising NHL Career

After being picked No. 2 overall in the 2017 NHL Draft, Patrick's career started well with Philadelphia, notching 30 and 31 points in his first two full seasons, but unfortunately, injuries have significantly changed the trajectory of his career.
Since that point, Patrick has missed plenty of time, playing in just 77 games since 2019, tallying 7 goals and 16 points over that time, so while his immediate return to the NHL is unlikely, if he can get healthy and find his confidence, we may see him in the top league in the future.
