The Edmonton Oilers have been looking at their options to trade Campbell's contract since they sent him to the AHL earlier this year. It seems we might now have insight into the player they're willing to part with to facilitate a trade.

Oilers Willing to Deal Promising Young Defenseman to Trade Campbell's Contract

The Edmonton Oilers are determined to offload Jack Campbell's contract, which currently costs them $5 million while he plays in the minors.
According to insider Darren Dreger, the Oilers are now open to including a significant asset in the trade – former first-round pick Philip Broberg.
Dreger on Philip Broberg (Insider Trading): "He aspires to return to the NHL, which seems unlikely in Edmonton unless there's an injury, so a trade appears most probable. Here's an intriguing twist: perhaps it's not Broberg for an incoming asset. Maybe Broberg becomes a sweetener, enabling the Oilers to also offload Jack Campbell's contract and create some cap space."

By trading Broberg, Holland would not only admit that he made a mistake with Jack Campbell's contract, but hurt the team's future by sending away a talented prospect.
While this decision carries substantial risk, the Oilers may find it necessary to pursue such a trade if they are in "win-now" mode.
Do you think the Oilers would trade Broberg to get rid of Campbell?
