Elliotte Friedman reveals the word circulating around the league regarding Juraj Slafkovsky

I'm not telling you anything new when I say that Juraj Slafkovsky very frequently puts himself in extremely dangerous positions on the ice.

He has already been knocked down very hard several times since the beginning of the season and it was the case again yesterday against the Arizona Coyotes.

As the big Slovakian was retrieving the puck in the neutral zone with his head down, he was hit hard by Shayne Gostisbehere, who didn't hesitate for a second to check him. However, the Coyotes defenseman is not known for hitting hard, not being the biggest physically.

The renowned Elliotte Friedman made a disturbing revelation on Sportsnet's Jeff Marek Show about the Habs' first overall pick.

"What it says to me, when I saw that shot last night, the word came out that you can hit this guy. Everybody knows that." Elliotte Friedman

The latter also adds this to further explain his comments.

"He (Gostisbehere) recognizes who's on the ice, that he's a guy (Slafkovsky) who puts himself in situations where he can get hit, and he goes for it. And it's not something he (Gostisbehere) does a lot, but he's done it." - Elliotte Friedman

Let's just say it's particularly troubling that word has already gotten out across the NHL that Slaf is hitable and gets into situations where he can be hit, despite his imposing stature.

This is the kind of thing that can hurt him considerably, because even though he is 6 feet 4 inches and 230 pounds, no one is afraid to mess with him anymore, even the smaller guys. He can therefore take less advantage of his imposing physique to scare his opponents, who would hesitate between playing the puck or taking a chance by checking him.

This is a major problem that will have to be addressed during the off-season for the 18 year old rookie.
