Daniel Brière is already in trouble with a recent Flyers 1st round pick
While the Ducks, Blues Jackets, Sharks, Habs and Coyotes all turned their noses up at Matvei Michkov, the Flyers were quite happy to draft the Russian, and rightly so.
However, we're not talking about Michkov here, but rather the 1st pick, 5th overall in 2022, Cutter Gauthier. Like Michkov, he failed to show up at the Flyers' development camp, but without warning. As for Michkov, the Flyers had long known that his KHL contract prevented him from attending.
This is really surprising coming from Gauthier, who is a very promising prospect for them. According to Brière, there has been no real confirmation of his absence.
"Cutter was invited, but he decided not to come. We assume it's because he played a lot of hockey with his participation in the World Championship."

Let's just say it looks bad when your general manager has to assume you're absent for such-and-such a reason. No matter how much hockey he's played, it shouldn't interfere with his dream of playing in the NHL, unless there's an injury of course.
