Jeremie Poirier set to undergo surgery after scary incident on the ice
During the Calgary Wranglers Saturday night game against the Abbotsford Canucks there was a scary incident on the ice when Wranglers defenseman Jeremie Poirier suffered a laceration on his arm. He immediately left the game and will require surgery to repair the arm.
He is confirmed out of the Wranglers' lineup indefinitely.
Poirier is one of the best Flames' prospects
Poirier was originally a third-round pick of the Flames in the 2020 NHL Draft. He made his professional debut during the 2022-23 season, when he scored nine goals and 41 points in 69 games for the Wranglers. He's an offensive defenseman and has a talent for creating offense in all situations.
So far this season, he has seven points in his first four games. He is second on the team in points, behind only Connor Zary.
