We've all heard about the rather negative events in Alex Galchenyuk's life last month. A week after signing a one-year contract, he got himself into some serious trouble and the Coyotes terminated his contract.

The former Canadiens forward went before a judge and was sentenced to 30 days in jail.

"Update: According to official documents, five of the charges against Alex Galchenyuk were dismissed; he pleaded guilty to one misdemeanor count of menacing."

"According to these documents, Galchenyuk was sentenced to 30 days in jail, one of which counts as time served and 27 of which will be suspended after successfully completing an alcohol recovery program and 12 months without consuming/possessing alcohol."

"Last month, Galchenyuk publicly apologized and announced that he was enrolling in the NHL/AJLNH player assistance program."

From what we understand, Galchenyuk would have already spent three days in jail and the other 27 could be suspended with proof of 12 months without alcohol. Since he's already in the NHL's player assistance program, he already has help getting out.

Let's wish him the best of luck!
