Tonight, the Colorado Avalanche have suffered a potential major setback in their quest for the Stanley Cup as defenseman Cale Makar has suffered an injury.
The Colorado Avalanche took the ice tonight against the Minnesota Wild hoping to pick up their first win of round 2 and set the tone for the series.
Early in the game, things turned worrisome for the Colorado Avalanche as Cale Makar hit the boards hard in a massive collision with Marcus Foligno.
Makar reportedly went down the tunnel in discomfort where he currently remains likely being evaluated for his injuries.
In his absence, the Avalanche have not missed a beat as they have gone on a scoring rampage in period one.

In the minutes following the injury, the Avalanche did not slow down scoring three consecutive goals from Sam Malinski, Jack Drury, and Artturi Lehkonen.
Since going down the tunnel, the Avalanche have not provided an update on Makar.
Makar did briefly return to the ice near the end of the first period testing out and seemingly gingerly placing weight on his right leg before heading back to the bench.
As the second period gets underway, whether or not Makar re-joins the Avalanche will be something to monitor as well as his ice time if he does return.
Makar is one of the most critical players for any team in the NHL not just Avalanche and his absence for Colorado could prove crucial if he misses future games as well.
As more news is given on Makar’s injury and his status for this game and future games we will pass all of that news along to you.
