The Winnipeg Jets have re-signed one of their veteran forwards, Alex Iafallo, just days before round 1 of the playoffs is set to get underway. The Winnipeg Jets are securing a key component of their lineup as they look to the playoffs. Winger Alex Iafallo has signed a three-year, $11 million contract extension, the team announced Wednesday.

Loading from Twitter ...

Iafallo came to Winnipeg as part of the Pierre-Luc Dubois trade
He had his current contract set to expire at the end of this season. Iafallo, 31, was acquired by the Jets in the trade that dealt Pierre-Luc Dubois to the Los Angeles Kings last summer. Since joining the Jets, the Eden, N.Y., native has been a steady presence, suiting up for each of the Jets' games this season. During the season, Iafallo has scored 15 goals and 16 assists for 31 points with a plus-21 rating. Complimented for his steady two-way game, he still plays at both ends of the ice. Signed originally as an undrafted free agent by the Kings in 2017, Iafallo has developed into what is now a solid NHL career. In 583 regular-season games, he's recorded 111 goals and 151 assists for a total of 262 points. In the playoffs, he's contributed five goals and five assists for a total of 10 points in 21 games. The Presidents' Trophy-winning Jets have already achieved the NHL's best regular season record with a 55-22-4 mark and 114 points. They will meet the St. Louis Blues, who secured the final wild-card berth on Tuesday. The schedule for the first round of the playoffs is expected to be announced shortly, with Western Conference teams reportedly beginning this Saturday.
