Winnipeg Jets fans everywhere are holding their collective breath after forward Nikolaj Ehlers was helped off the ice after a scary collision in tonight's game against the Chicago Blackhawks.

The Stanley Cup Playoffs are just days away, and the last thing that the Western Conference-leading Winnipeg Jets want to see is another injury to one of their top players.
However, that's a reality they may have to continue living with. During tonight's game against the Chicago Blackhawks, forward Nikolaj Ehlers accidentally collided with an official and later had to be helped off the ice by his teammates.
He wasn't able to put any weight on his right skate as he was helped off the ice, raising fears of a serious injury.
Ehlers had just returned from missing the last pair of games after getting hurt when he blocked a shot against the Vegas Golden Knights on April 3. After practice on April 5, head coach Scott Arniel indicated that the shot block didn't result in as serious an injury as it could have been.
Not as bad as we thought. He's a lot better today than he was after the game last night. We'll take it to game time tomorrow and see how it goes.

The 29 year old Ehlers has 63 points (24G, 39A) in 68 games and has been a major part of Winnipeg's success this year.
The Jets had also been missing Neal Pionk, who hadn't played since March 11 when he suffered a lower-body injury.
Additionally, they were also recently without Colin Miller, Rasmus Kupari and Gabriel Vilardi, all of whom had various injuries.
With the Stanley Cup Playoffs approaching the status of Ehlers going forward will be crucial to the Winnipeg Jets success.
